Day 101 - A Year of Spiritual Awakening - When You Are in the Practice...
/Lesson 101: When You Are in the Practice...
Today comes with major realisations around compassion. Imagine when holding compassion that you and another person are the same. Apparently we are all the same! Opening up to this will really open you up. Today’s practise is to imagining that we are another person and get an idea of this person that you didn’t have before. You may even become more in tune with this person and gain more intuition about that person.
I decided to imagine one of my friends. I won’t name their names in case they read it. Anyway, they have had major loss, suffer depression possibly their whole lives and have their own habits and addictions. What I decided to take perspective from was suffering the major loss of a family member. I truly do not understand what this is like as I haven’t had too many major family members pass on and I’m a bit different on death. I see death as the next stage of our being and we move onto the next plane or next life so to speak.
Anyway, taking on this loss saw me feel some major hurt inside. Everything in life can blank out as all you can focus on is the pain. It’s almost like nothing else really matters except your suffering. But it’s not about wallowing for this person. It’s about having one of the best chunks of your life ripped out from you and how does one live on? It’s very soul crushing. You almost don’t have patience for people and their petty shit. What I do see for this person is the natural small steps to getting back that life that is needed. Seeing the good things and really embracing it. it will happen but definitely in their own time.
I think when we hold compassion in this way, it really tests your boundaries and stretches what you think and know. Everyone has a story and we need to be reminded that we shouldn’t judge and hold compassion and understanding for each other.
