Day 1

I've decided to commit to one drawing a day. This is to help me establish a routine that drives me to expand my creative skills because I feel that I am so much more than just a 9-5 job. I feel so mechanical in being part of a massive well oiled machine which works so well for so many (and I am in no way knocking anyone's way of life), but I want so much more for myself. So here is the first day I decided to pick up my charcoal pencil and draw for myself and a friend.

Like my 365 days of gratitude which you can find on my Instagram, I am dedicating myself to a further exploration of my "self".

Rowboat

I decided to draw this for my friend Rob because he likes boats. I like the solitude of the picture and the serenity of the sea against a single mountain backdrop. It's a peaceful picture and I imagine myself sitting in the rowboat soaking it all in.

Taking a moment

When I was attempting to copy someone else's picture, it turned out nothing like the original. My self critique on this one is making her eyelid just a bit too long. For me, it looks like she is stopping just to take a breath - take it all in if you will. I can imagine the sun shining on her face whilst she sorts through her thoughts.

Pony

This was supposed to be a unicorn but I didn't allow myself space for it. Basically I was trying to draw my unicorn pencil sharpener. It looks cartoonish and would probably fit into a kid's book or cartoon series. Still learning how to gauge space on the page. Working progress.

For someone that hasn't given drawing and art a proper go, I think I am doing alright for myself. I haven't had lessons or have learned how to draw correctly. Right now, I am just attempting a drawing a day and seeing how I progress from day to day. I totally attempted a signature unique to myself so you will see them pop up from time to time.

Thanks for stopping by!
