Handy Nail Polish Remover Tip

I find that when ever I use cotton pads and nail polish remover, that the remover will dry up fast on the cotton pad. I will also generally rub the cotton pad hard on my nails to try and get the coats off but this damages my nails and rips them to shreds therefore ruining the condition of my nails. I will actually see my nails shredding at hanging off the main part of the nail which is totally not good at all!

What I have discovered - by randomly stumbling upon it- was to use make up remover towelettes with the nail polish remover.

20120512-203733.jpg

I found that this was a faster and healthier way to remove nail polish from my finger tips. Not only does the towelette hold the nail polish remover liquid but when I rubbed hard, the nail polish came right off in about 5 strokes. I noticed that this did not damage my nails at all.

I haven't actually researched to see if other people have done this. The only reason why I discovered it was because I was literally too lazy to walk to the bathroom and get a cotton pad, so I used the towelette because I had it in my room.

I am in no way a professional to say that this is a healthier option for nails. I just found it worked much better and faster whilst you use less nail polish remover because the make up towelette holds the liquid for longer. I found it didn't damage my nails at all and will continue to use this method to remove nail polish.

Try it out and let me know what you think. I thought it was a handy tip and wanted to share it with everyone as I'm sure for some people out there, you wouldn't have thought to try it. :D

It will change your beauty life!

Glossybox - April

20120506-174700.jpg

I received my April Glossybox in May so I've tried to test out the products before submitting my review. I was fairly impressed with the selection apart from the fact I was sent 2 moisturizers which I thought was a tad bit silly. I received a nail polish, gel eye liner and rose hip skin care oil. In addition to this I received a 15% off integrity cosmetics voucher and $25 voucher for the Iconic

I am currently wearing the Blush amour Sunset in paradise nail polish I received. This normally costs $4.95 and can be bought from their website.

20120506-212956.jpg

In the picture the colour looks like a coral red - almost tangerine as well. At the time they did look more orange than red. Now, when I look at my nails, it looks like strawberry red. I'm thinking it changes colour depending on the light. I have never heard of this brand before, but I find that the nail polish glides on smoothly and evenly. It also dries fast which is always a bonus. I think it's a cute colour and works well with my skin tone.

20120506-213432.jpg

20120506-213516.jpg

The two moisturizers I received was an Orange and Bergamot sensitive skin cream from Redwin and a Protecting moisturizer from Integrity.

20120506-214153.jpg

Redwin is endorsed by our very own Jennifer Hawkins. I thought it might have a strong fruity scent but the scent is ever so gentle. Redwin create products especially for sensitive skin and use organic products. Integrity did not have the most pleasant smell. It's probably because of the ingredient mixture of kelp extract, flaxseed oil, aloe vera, chamomile and green tea. The ingredients themselves are good for your body. Together, it just doesn't smell that great to me. I will continue to use these products but for now will say that they are like any other moisturizers to me. If I notice any significant changes in my skin, I'll share it but in general I find that they all do the same job and it just comes down to preference.

What I am really excited about to use is the Rosehip Organic Skincare 7 precious oils. It is meant to revitalize the skin and eradicate scars, spots, burns etc to give the skin it's natural feel and glow.

20120506-215834.jpg

I am going to implement this into my daily beauty routine and see if I can reduce the spots/scars on my cheeks and chin. Will definitely keep you posted on how it goes.

And, last but not least Mirenesse Tight Liner which is a Hydra gel eye liner. It comes in a pen and feels like you are using liquid liner but sets as a gel eye liner. It is also smudgeproof which is very handy. I received the shade Saphire Blue (yes they spelled Sapphire wrong).

It was easy to apply and I am totally a sucker for packaging. I like blue eyeliners but I know they aren't for everyone. I like that it doesn't smudge. Wore this all day and it didn't smudge - even when I went to rub my eyes because I was tired. Works like magic! I think I have found my new brand of eyeliner :D

So, there you have it - Glossybox April.

Flashing Fuchsia

So, continuing on with my nail polish trends, I bring to you Fuchsia

It's a bright, sassy colour that is great for vibrant, coloured candy outfits or what I prefer fuchsia against black.

The nail polishes listed above from left to right are:

Butter London offer Disco Biscuit for $14 and be bought directly off their website for people living in Canada, UK or the US. For Australian customers, you can try Adore Beauty, Kleins Perfumery, Green Organics, Peachy Clean for $22, Honey Honey for $19.80 or Skincare Store for $19.95 - this was the cheapest I could find.

MAC offer Toco Toucan for US$16 direct off their website. Unfortunately it wasn't available on the Australian MAC website but you can always go to your local Myer to the beauty counter to see if they have this. I also couldn't find the nail polish at local beauty websites and Amazon had it for $29.

Nails Inc. offers Notting Hill Gate for £11 directly off their website but only ships to the UK and Ireland. I did manage to find other shipping options for US and Australian customers from Sephora for US$9.50 and Beauty Bay for Au$15.40.

Kat Von D of LA Ink fame offers a limited edition nail polish that is only found at Sephora for US$12.50.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here are some other cool finds that might tickle your fancy.
Essie offer Flirty Fuchsia which I think is brilliant because it's a neon Hot Pink. I found this on Amazon from store AVEYOU Beauty for US$8. I could not find any local Australian stores that stock this shade of nail polish. Essie is an American brand.
Barry M offers Shocking Pink which can be bought from their website for £2.99 which is approx. AU$4.60. They do offer international shipping when emailed. Another in your face colour with a casual outdoor outfit. Fun for the beach!
China Glaze offer 108 Degrees from the Island Escape Collection and is a deep pink nail polish with glitter. The glitter is hard to see in the pic. I like this shade as it borders on a reddy, rosey colour as well. Found this for $2.35 on Amazon seller My Beauty Smart. It is also available at My Beauty Halls for $8 and $5.99 from Sally Beauty.
Ok, I am a totes sucker for presentation. I love how this bottle of nail polish looks. This is on offer from Filthy Gorgeous London for £9. This I also found from Blue Banana for the same price. It is part of their 3D collection and it meant to sparkle and dazzle with a crystalized effect. Looks very flashy and shimmery and I think it's perfect for going out for a girl's night out!
Rimmel offer Funtime Fuchsia from their 60 seconds range. In Australia, it will mention where to buy it but no online options. You can check out your local pharmacy, Priceline, KMart, Target and Big W for approx. AU$7.95. For UK customers, I managed to find Chemist Direct for £3.39, Superdrug for £3.69 and Clockwork Pharmacy for £4.69. I think Rimmel is a reliable brand and who doesn't want their nail polish coats only taking 1 minute to dry. It is a solid fuchsia colour with a matte finish.
Zoya offer Kimber from their Surf Collection range for $8 directly from their site for US customers only. This is meant to be a beachy colour and offers a hint of glitter through the deep fuchsia. mBeauty Lounge offer international shipping and sell this product for $6.60. I like this nail polish for the hints of gold/yellow sparkle that tints the fuchsia making it dainty in appearance. Different take on the glittery fuchsia.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

So this is the 2nd part of my nail polish series for upcoming trends in 2012.

I tried to go with neon and glittery fuchsias to pizazz up your nails coming from summer into Autumn.It's not a colour for everyone but does suit all skin tones depending on the depth of colour you choose.

Please feel free to hit me up for any requests.

Tangerine Nails It!

Looking into nail polish trends has come up with a mixture of results, but what I found that stood out the most was Tangerine or Burnt Orange

It is such a fresh, vibrant and bright colour that works with all skin tones. I think just coming out from Summer into Autumn, this colour fits in perfectly with the changing season. Be perfect with a nice matte lipstick on a casual day out.

The nail polishes listed above from left to right:

Sonia Kashuk - $4.79 from Target. The only stockist who sells it is Target. Possibly only available in USA.

Sephora offers this Opaque rich Tangerine nail polish from their website for $9.50. You do have to scroll down and find the colour from all that is on offer.

Le Métier De Beauté Nail Lacquer in Not So Safe Orange cannot be bought off their direct website but you can purchase it for $18 from Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus.

CND offers Electric Orange #545 which isn't sold directly from their website but I managed to find it on Amazon from stockist One41 Beauty for $6.15. The maximum cost that I found was $8.45.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For a local stockist here in Australia, I found BYS offered Tempt me Tangerine with stockists found here. BYS Nail Polishes usually cost around $5.
Dr.'s Remedy offer their Tranquil Tangerine for $17 off their website. It is a bit on the lighter side and not a solid, dense tangerine / burnt orange.
Found this at Drugstore.com by Revlon. This is the Tangerine nail polish and cost $4.99. You can most likely go to your local pharmacy or department store to find this.
Found an Etsy store KBShimmer that make bright and bold coloured nail polish. This is $7.50 from this Etsy seller. They are currently away but will be back in May to open up shop again.
OPI offer from their Texas Collection Y'all Come Back Ya Hear? I found this at various beauty websites including Recreate Yourself, Salon Style, and Beauty Bay for approx $16.95 but then I got onto Amazon and found the seller rock and glamorize that sold it for $2.
Ulta 3 offer Burnt Orange which is very strong and bold when applied. It costs approx $2 from a physical Chemist such as Terry White Chemists or any local pharmacy.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

This is just part 1 of the nail polish series. There are many more interesting colours that I want to share and would be perfect for the upcoming months.

Thought I would start out with the bright colours first before we go onto the subtle colours.

Thanks for stopping by. Please feel free to post any requests on my Facebook page here.

Coolest Find of the Month - December

Sally Hansen Salon Effects

Thought this was an awesome find because it's convenient for any girls wanting to glam up their finger nails.

The common misconception with this product, is that people assume it is nail stickers. They are actually nail polish strips. Yes, this means they are made out of real nail polish.

The range offers 24 different designs and lasts up to 10 days. It also can be removed with regular nail polish remover.

You could probably match this nail polish with some Violent Lips from my previous post Coolest Find of the Month from November.

The cost of this product is approximately AU$14.95 or on sale at $11.95. You can buy these strips at your local beauty stores such as Priceline or retail stores such as Target or KMart. Alternatively, there are online websites such as BeautyHeaven or Ebay that do sell it.

The reviews I have read swear by this product! It's an easy application and take approximately 10 minutes.

You can purchase this yourself or buy it for someone who appreciated nail products. It's a guaranteed way to avoid chipping!
