Bellabox - April

20120501-221610.jpg

Subscribed to another Beauty Box - Bellabox. Was excited about choosing this service because of the brands on offer. I've got to say that I wasn't overly impressed by what I received as I felt it didn't take into consideration my beauty profile.

This is what I received:

20120501-222059.jpg

I received some comvita facial samples which was ok because it's an expensive brand. I also got a $2 Ulta3 nail polish in burnt orange which I already bought on a prior occasion. There was a DKNY perfume spray which is good for a quick carry spray to freshen up. The heel cushions would be worthwhile but I don't really go clubbin that often to make full use of it. The benefit hello flawless foundation would have been perfect if they didn't send me the darkest colour imaginable. The only item I could benefit from is the OP Therapy Body Hydrator which is a body cream for sensitive skin. It doesn't have the most pleasant smell but is useful because I do get allergic reactions to some products.

I'm hoping this beauty box offers a better range for the month of May as my excitement was dampened by what I got sent. I looked online and found that some people would have received aromatherapy oils which I probably would have liked because I like filling my room with natural, calming scents.

I brought you this post so you could see what was inside and make a judgment on whether you would like it or not. Hopefully next month my beauty profile is taken into consideration when they send me products involving skin colour. Sorry if this seems like a rant but I guess I was expecting more quality when I subscribed to this brand. Will keep you updated once my new beauty box has arrived. Crossing my fingers that May brings some worthwhile products :)

Ciao!!

Loreal - Glam Shine Reflexion

Had an amazing day today with my bestie and we went to a local market - Conventry Square. Lots of stalls selling make-up and accessories and we found a place selling cheap cosmetics.

I found Loreal's Glam Shine - Reflexion in Sheer Watermelon for $4!!

20120429-192919.jpg

The brush on this lipgloss is amazing! It's so soft and glides on like a cushion to your lips :) It is probably the weirdest feeling because I am used to sturdy, hard lipgloss brushes but this was smooth and spongey - probably why it's called reflexion because of the way the lip brush flexes to the shape of your lips. It leaves a glittery, light pinky colour on your lips with a non-sticky texture and wet shine look. Perfect for everyday wear or when you're out and about. It also leaves a fruity scent which is refreshing but I couldn't say it was watermelon (probably my sense of taste and smell failing me).

20120429-193601.jpg

I only bought the one lipgloss because I wasn't fond of the other colours on sale. This lipgloss usually retails for about $10 from regular cosmetic shops and pharmacies.

It was a great find and I wanted to share it with everyone :)

Update: This what the gloss looks like close up

20120430-220417.jpg

Sorry for the bad image with my bad skin. As you can see its very subtle in colour with a pinky orange tint. It has a soft glitter finish and good for wearing everyday to plump your lips.

20120430-221704.jpg

In this pic, which I took at work, you can see it's a bit more reddy pink. I guess it depends on the lighting and how many layers you wear but it's not that bright in colour. It's a very soft and natural colour. I like the gloss because you can match it with any sort of make-up and outfit because it's not that bright. It appears like a pinky coral colour in the gloss pot and is not over the top in appearance. Hope my pics give you an idea of what the gloss will look like against your lips and skin tone :)

Flashing Fuchsia

So, continuing on with my nail polish trends, I bring to you Fuchsia

It's a bright, sassy colour that is great for vibrant, coloured candy outfits or what I prefer fuchsia against black.

The nail polishes listed above from left to right are:

Butter London offer Disco Biscuit for $14 and be bought directly off their website for people living in Canada, UK or the US. For Australian customers, you can try Adore Beauty, Kleins Perfumery, Green Organics, Peachy Clean for $22, Honey Honey for $19.80 or Skincare Store for $19.95 - this was the cheapest I could find.

MAC offer Toco Toucan for US$16 direct off their website. Unfortunately it wasn't available on the Australian MAC website but you can always go to your local Myer to the beauty counter to see if they have this. I also couldn't find the nail polish at local beauty websites and Amazon had it for $29.

Nails Inc. offers Notting Hill Gate for £11 directly off their website but only ships to the UK and Ireland. I did manage to find other shipping options for US and Australian customers from Sephora for US$9.50 and Beauty Bay for Au$15.40.

Kat Von D of LA Ink fame offers a limited edition nail polish that is only found at Sephora for US$12.50.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here are some other cool finds that might tickle your fancy.
Essie offer Flirty Fuchsia which I think is brilliant because it's a neon Hot Pink. I found this on Amazon from store AVEYOU Beauty for US$8. I could not find any local Australian stores that stock this shade of nail polish. Essie is an American brand.
Barry M offers Shocking Pink which can be bought from their website for £2.99 which is approx. AU$4.60. They do offer international shipping when emailed. Another in your face colour with a casual outdoor outfit. Fun for the beach!
China Glaze offer 108 Degrees from the Island Escape Collection and is a deep pink nail polish with glitter. The glitter is hard to see in the pic. I like this shade as it borders on a reddy, rosey colour as well. Found this for $2.35 on Amazon seller My Beauty Smart. It is also available at My Beauty Halls for $8 and $5.99 from Sally Beauty.
Ok, I am a totes sucker for presentation. I love how this bottle of nail polish looks. This is on offer from Filthy Gorgeous London for £9. This I also found from Blue Banana for the same price. It is part of their 3D collection and it meant to sparkle and dazzle with a crystalized effect. Looks very flashy and shimmery and I think it's perfect for going out for a girl's night out!
Rimmel offer Funtime Fuchsia from their 60 seconds range. In Australia, it will mention where to buy it but no online options. You can check out your local pharmacy, Priceline, KMart, Target and Big W for approx. AU$7.95. For UK customers, I managed to find Chemist Direct for £3.39, Superdrug for £3.69 and Clockwork Pharmacy for £4.69. I think Rimmel is a reliable brand and who doesn't want their nail polish coats only taking 1 minute to dry. It is a solid fuchsia colour with a matte finish.
Zoya offer Kimber from their Surf Collection range for $8 directly from their site for US customers only. This is meant to be a beachy colour and offers a hint of glitter through the deep fuchsia. mBeauty Lounge offer international shipping and sell this product for $6.60. I like this nail polish for the hints of gold/yellow sparkle that tints the fuchsia making it dainty in appearance. Different take on the glittery fuchsia.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

So this is the 2nd part of my nail polish series for upcoming trends in 2012.

I tried to go with neon and glittery fuchsias to pizazz up your nails coming from summer into Autumn.It's not a colour for everyone but does suit all skin tones depending on the depth of colour you choose.

Please feel free to hit me up for any requests.

Coolest Find of the Month - April

Panda Pen by De-Coy

Do you ever hate when your mascara, eye liner or eye shadow does this:

Your eye liner, eye shadow or mascara runs onto your face giving you a panda like look. Most of the time you wouldn't notice unless you went to freshen up.

Well, to avoid this, De-Coy have made a convenient make-up remover pen called the Panda Pen. They have easy to use steps here.

It should have you looking fabu again in no time.

It does cost AU$29.95 and you can buy direct from the website internationally with a Paypal account.

I realise that this product is not the cheapest but I had to share it because you can carry it with you anywhere and easily touch up when you need to.

It is perfect for people with sensitive skin and not tested on animals. I also like how it is marketed because they have a sense of humour about it.
