Lesson 157: Being with Pain

The best way to get rid of the pain is to feel the pain. And when you feel the pain and go beyond it, you’ll see there’s a very intense love that is wanting to awaken itself.
— Deepak Chopra

When you feel pain, do you ever notice that there are physical sensations that accompany it? You may get a stomach ache or chest pain, and although they might pass quickly, it can teach us about practising detachment from that emotional pain. This is how we clear and start to practise spaciousness. Today we are to recognise what first thought comes to mind when you experience pain. From there, do you try to understand it or use a distraction like medication to ease the pain?

There has been many ways in which I have dealt with pain – crying, being alone, being around people, felt sad, avoided the pain and sometimes I have had panic attacks. It can be a combination of all those things or maybe just a few. I am very aware of how I deal with pain. I will wallow in it for some time, but I now know that I can face it, learn from it, accept it and grow. I haven’t really used medication to deal with my pain. Like, I haven’t gone to a psychologist for the purposes of getting a prescription in order to overcome pain. I think it’s necessary for some people when they are sucked way into the darkness and finding trouble getting out, though I haven’t personally needed it.

I think everyone deals in their own ways and I’m not one to judge how they go about that. I think having a deeper understanding of self helps you deal with pain or at least manage it better. I think when people are ready to really find the answers in their pain, it opens them up to more awareness. It can be a real life changing moment when that happens.

Lesson 157: When Was the Last Time...

Today we are to think about when the last time we felt good in our body. When we sleep, eat, move… it allows out body to vibrate at a high level. If we are always in a good state, it allows our body to be healed based on that high vibration. If we close our eyes, see what your body needs. We can ask the Divine to show us the answers. From there, ask what your heart needs and see what happens from there.

When I closed my eyes, my body said I needed exercise and to eat better. I actually know these things already and when my life slows down, which will be next month, then I feel like I can fully focus. Right now, I don’t really get much time to myself and I’m only blogging now to catch up on previous posts I’d missed and because I gave myself a night off. Tomorrow it starts again with my chaotic life. It really doesn’t stop being hectic until the end of June. If I don’t have the time to focus on good habits. I am fully aware that this is an excuse but I don’t have time to spare for preparing my good habits.

My heart wants my tribe. I want to find all the people on their spiritual paths, so that we can share stories and we can learn from each other. I am finding people along the way and it’s really opened me to possibilities. I love where I am spiritually and now it’s just really getting my own tribe together where I feel even further connected. I don’t want to be in a coven or anything like that. I just want a good group of connected souls to come together and just be in the moment. That’s what my heart desires and as I explore my path, I’m hoping it will just fall into place.

What did you find your heart and body needs?

Day 156 - A Year of Spiritual Awakening - If You Are Out of Balance...

Lesson 156: If You Are Out of Balance...

Today is all about being out of balance. If you feel that in your body that things are not balanced, you can ask your heart why. You can have your heart show you the situations that started you on a path to cause your body to be out of balance which includes being overweight, having addictions and poor nutrition. Sometimes when we feel out of balance, it doesn’t necessarily have to be in relation to food or drink. Today we are to think about the emotions we have that causes an imbalance – this can be emotions that we hold onto, those we haven’t accessed or released. We can release whatever we feel doesn’t serve us well.

I know my body is overweight from bad eating habits. I feel it can be a struggle because I don’t have a love of cooking to prepare my meals in a healthy manner and it’s laziness also. I am aware of it but I can’t seem to commit to good practises for myself, especially lately because I’m so busy. Something is happening in my life where everything is hectic at the moment.

In terms of emotions, I don’t feel out of balance in terms of this exercise. I was imbalanced where I had a lot of negativity and past situations to deal with that helped me release pain. I felt like I was carrying so much pain that it just emanated into my life. I think once you can release what’s not bringing positive energy into your life, it’s a weight lifted off your shoulder – I actually felt lighter in my body. It’s amazing what pain can do to your body and you don’t even realise. It’s like a physical weight you lug around and once it’s released, it’s not there anymore.

Is there an emotion that you can release today?

Day 156 - A Year to Clear - Pain is Energy

Lesson 156: Pain is Energy

We’ve all experienced pain whether it be physical or emotional. Pain can be seen as a form of energy that can be created from within and then can move outward. With the clearing practises we’ve achieved so far, pain can be released by following the same principles of clearing – “intention, action, non-identification, and compassion”. If we can work through pain, is it possible to iron out the effects of them on us?

Based on previous posts that I have made over the past few months, I would have spoken about my pain. I know for sure that any pain can be worked upon and it takes a lot of acceptance, understanding, compassion and then allows you to release. I think all pain can be smoothed out in order to allow it to be cleared. I won’t say it’s an easy task though. It’s like having something that causes discomfort shoved in your face for you to deal with. There are some days when you just don’t want to deal with pain and that’s okay – everything should be in your own time. And, it’s okay to reach out to others when you need to. I think the most important thing about dealing with your pain is being aware of it and then taking action. You need to be willing in order to overcome it. No one can solely do it for you and you have to want to confront it yourself.

Over the upcoming days, it seems this theme of pain will be popping up in this course.

Day 155 - A Year to Clear - Lean In

Lesson 155: Lean In

Take an interest in your pain and your fear. Move closer, lean in, get curious; even for a moment, experience the feelings without labels, beyond being good or bad. Welcome them. Invite them. Do anything that helps melt the resistance.
— Pema Chödrön

New week equals a new theme. This week’s is “Leaning Into Resistance”.

When I look at the quote, I feel like we will be looking at our emotions and feelings, facing them and then dealing with them from there. Because this is a clearing course, it would make sense, as we’re learning to let go of what goes on in our heads. To face pain and fear, leads us to get through those uncomfortable feelings and actually taking an approach that leads to an overall better life. If we can face those tough times, then we can overcome anything.

What do you think?
